Welcome to Year 2!

Welcome to Year 2!

Our class teacher is Mrs Parkinson and our teaching assistants are Miss Harris and Miss Broadbent. Mrs Shepherdson will also be in our classroom on Tuesdays.

This year:

PE is on a Tuesday with Mr Hatton.

Drumming is on a Thursday with Mr Smith.

Dance is on a Friday.

Reading and Homework

We read everyday in our daily Phonics lessons in year 2.

Your child will have their reading book changed at least once a week. It is important that your child reads as much as possible (with an adult or older sibling) at home, in order for them to reach their full potential.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask, the best way to do this is to phone the office.

Thank you

Mrs Parkinson

This half term

This half term we have been learning lots about the Victorians in our History Topic.

We have learnt lots already about:

• 'The Ultimate Victorian' Queen Victoria

• Children at work in the Victorian Era

• Schools in the Victorian times

and we will be learning lots more!

We have also enjoyed a live lesson with Gallery Oldham where they taught us all about Oldhamers during the Victorian times and about the mills and factories Oldham became famous for. During this lesson we created a pop up mill picture of one of the mills. We had lots of fun.

In Maths we have been looking at Place Value and using equipment to help us make numbers to 100.

In English we have been reading the book 'Penguin in Peril' and completing lots of reading and writing around the story.

In Science we have been learning all about Healthy Eating.
