Welcome to Year 4!

Welcome to Year 4! We're really working hard now as we build on our learning from Year 3.

We have a PE session every week. PE is on Tuesday and we must have our PE kit for the lesson. In Year 4 we also have a Swimming session on a Thursday. We must remember our swimming kit otherwise we cannot take part in the swimming lesson.

We have a weekly music session with Mr Byers who will be working with us on several pieces of music, as we become more skilled with our brass instruments.

Our learning is through Learning Challenge questions and we have a number of questions which we investigate over the year. This year our questions are:

  • Is Ancient Greece really a myth?
  • What makes the Earth angry?
  • Why were the Romans so powerful and what did we learn from them?
  • Why is Manchester a cool place to live?

In Year 4, our day starts at 8.50am. We have a break in the morning when we can buy fruit and milk from the Snack Trolley. We have our lunch at 12.20pm and then play out after we have eaten until 1.00pm. Our day finishes at 3.10pm.

Our class teacher is called Miss Wheal.

To start our learning challenge question this September (Is Ancient Greece really a myth?), we held a mini Greek Olympics, just like they did in Ancient Greece.  The children really enjoyed this.  Over the course of the year we will also be looking at difference topics in science such a habitats and electricity, and learning a new language - French.  The maths topics that we will be covering will include place value, calculations and data handling.
