Welcome to Year 3!

Welcome to Year 3!

Our class teacher is Miss Doyle and our Teaching Assistant is Miss Mellor.

Our school day starts at 8:50am and ends at 3:10pm.

Our break time is from 10:30am until 10:45am and our lunch time is from 12pm until 1pm. We also participate in the Daily Mile at 2pm.

Our English lessons this year will be based on high-quality picture-books, with a new focus book introduced every 3 weeks. For example, in September we wrote our own story that was inspired by The Tin Forest by Helen Ward. Lots of us were even inspired to start writing our own stories; both at home and during our breaks at school! Soon, we will create a diary entry from the perspective of the wolf in Little Red by Bethan Woollvin – we can’t wait!

Our current topic is Light and Dark. In this Science unit, we will be exploring light sources and how we can create shadows. We have already started our inquiry into shadows, as you can see from the picture below!

We will continue our learning from Year 2 in subjects such as Maths, MFL, History, Geography, RE, PE, Art, Music and PSHE.

This year, we have started to learn how to play a brass instrument! Our teacher is called Mr Smith.

This year PE will take place on a Monday.
