Welcome to Year 6!

Welcome to Year 6! Our class teacher is Mrs Harding and we also have Miss Healey to help us with our learning this year.

We have a lot of exciting learning to get through!

This year we will be using a variety of picture book texts to support our writing.  The first two texts for the autumn term will be: The Barnabus Project and The Water Tower.

We will also be studying different topics over the year and reading a number of novels as a class, linked to them:

World War II - The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne.

The Circulatory System - Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman.

The Vikings - Viking Boy by Tony Bradman.

Evolution and Inheritance - Wonder by R.J. Palacio.

The Islamic Civilisation - The Golden Horsemen of Bagdad by Saviour Pirotta.

We will also continue our learning from Year 5 in subjects such as Maths, MFL, PE, Music and PSHE.

Just a reminder about our weekly timetable for this year:

.

  • Tuesday afternoon – PE
  • Monday after school - Multi-sports club with Mr Hatton.
  • Tuesday afternoon – Music

For homework in the first term, children should focus on daily reading and learning the times table facts as well as the related division facts.  Additional homework will be given intermittently.

Reading book bags will be given out and should be returned daily. Please take the time to read every day.
